The Greeks do not just relate to the country of Greece. They are referred to as people all in Europe who spoke Greek, they have no locational similarities. The Greeks were never a unified Civilization. Small city-states were one of the most significant advancements that made them one of the first advanced European Civilizations. Greeks accomplished so much at that early of a time. They established the first democracy where the people ran the government. They also created massive structures that people still make today based on the early Greek ones.
Archaic Period- 650-480 B.C., beginning of artistic development in Greece.
Classical Period- 4-5 B.C., annexation of modern-day Greece. Peloponnesian wars ended this era.
Hellenistic Period- Period between the death of Alexander The Great in 323 B.C. and the emergence of the Roman Empire in 31 B.C.
Mycenaean- The last phase of the Bronze age. The Mycenaean age was from 1600–1100 BC. This was the first distinctively Greek civilization.
Trojan War- The Trojan war was a way for Zeus to decrease the very inclining world population.
Dorian- Greeks that migrated through central Greece and into the Peloponnesus probably between 1100 and 950 BC, defeating and displacing the Achaeans
Homer- Homer was a Greek man that wrote poems that provided the ideas on how to enshrine Greek's ideas on themselves.
Epic- an epic is a long narrative poem, which is usually related to heroic deeds of a person of unusual courage and unparalleled bravery.
Myth- Ancient Greek fiction stories that they worshiped.
Location Around a Sea- Since they didn't have good farmland the sea's fish was a good source of food.
Rugged Mountains- Helped for defense from another Greek city-States.
Little Fertile Farmland- Made finding food very hard for ancient Greeks.
Moderate Climate- Decent climate for farming food. Hot in Summer and mild in the winter.
Mycenean adaption of Minoan Culture- Helped make a written language for Greeks to use.
The Trojan War- The Trojan war was a way for Zeus to decrease the very inclining world population.
The collapse of Mycenaean Civilization-palaces was destroyed, and their system of writing, their art, and their way of life were gone. According to Greek legends, they were replaced by half-civilized Dorian invaders from the north.
Since there are many mountains in ancient Greece, It caused a massive separation between people. With this separation, it caused people to start their own independent city-states, with Athens being the most advanced.
